Nutrition: They consume grasses primarily. They never move away from water deposits inordinately.
Reproduction: The gestation time is about 260-281 days and the one calf is born. Calving takes place far from herd. Pale grazing antelope kids hide in high grasses during 4-5 weeks, their mother regularly returns to feed them. After that the strengthened calves join the kids with similar age in the herd.
Did you know? Roan antelope is the second largest species of antelope. Adult roan antelopes do not have to worry about predators, therefore it is not a shy species. Moreover, unlike most antelops They use their horn not only to fight their own race, but also to scare predators away.
Watch it! The two sexes are similar, but males are more robust and somewhat larger than females. The specimens of the species are at about 220-265 cms. The withers of cows is 140-160 cms, their body mass is at about 225-227 kgs, while the withers of bulls is 150-160 cms, their mass is 260-300 kgs. Only the common eland is bigger in size amongst antelopes.
